Venue Description and Course maps

Transition Area

Transition area is located immediately south of the front of Loveland High School in Owens Field. Transition area opens at 5:15am on race day. You must pick up your packet before entering transition. Packet pickup 2:30-6pm on Friday and beginning at 5:15am on race day. Individuals must pick up their own packets.

 

Swim

The 750m/1500m swim is in Lake Loveland, a private lake which you can see from Highway 34. The start of the swim will be in the beach area and will go clockwise, exiting just west of the starting point. You are required to wear a swim cap which will be provided to you. Swim start and Swim exit will be clearly marked. Wetsuits are allowed but not required. 

Bike

Left turn at parking lot exit at Loveland High School onto W. 29th St. Then west on 29th St., continue west on 29th, across Wilson. Turn south (left) on Rio Blanco Avenue. Turn west (right) on W. 22nd St. — around curve becomes Cascade Ave. Cascade to Hwy 34. Hwy 34 to “Wild Lane” Residential area comes out onto Glade Road. Glade Rd. (5 mile mark) to Cty Rd. 25 Cty. Rd. 25/38E – right turn. Continue on 38E around Horsetooth/ 38E becomes Harmony in FC. city limits. Right turn at Harmony/Taft Hill Road. South to Loveland. Left turn @ 29th St. Cross Taft Avenue and back into LHS parking lot.

Run

The running course will leave transition area, heading southeast across Owens Field down small hill to Logan Dr. Follow course north at Custer Dr. to 29th. 29th to Lake Dr. Lake Dr. to Garfield Ave. South on Garfield Ave. to Lake. This street will lead you to bike path where you will proceed west along Lake Loveland approx. 1 mile before turn around point. Course will return you to Custer Ave. where you will enter park area for last leg of run. AID STATIONS EVERY MILE WITH COLD WATER AND GATORADE. The finish line is near the amphitheater where more COLD water will be handed to you. Cool down…relax…and enjoy the post race meal.

Aquabike — This is a great option if your running days are over! This category continues to grow and become more competitive. You will compete in the swim and bike with the other event competitors. Aquabike will be awarded for top male and female 1st-3rd. If entries increase in Aquabike, we will add award categories.

Participants competing in the aquabike event will swim and bike the identical course and route as the triathletes. Upon returning to T-2 you will rack your bike and exit the transition area through the “run exit” You will then follow path to the finish line. We will have a path coned off that will take you to the finish line. Your finish time will be available at the finish line (overall time at finish line, not T-2). Volunteers will be at the run exit to direct you to the finish line.

Extra Meal Tickets can be purchased for $10.50 each ($5.00 for 6 and under), and this is REAL FOOD folks. Extra meal tickets can be purchased on race day or when you register. Athletes meal is included in the race entry fee.

Volunteers – All events need numerous volunteers to run a safe and organized event. Some local youth organizations will be benefiting from this event and helping run the race, but there is always need for more volunteers! If you would like to volunteer and enjoy a free lunch and T-shirt, email Peggy Shockley.
